The preview screening of CrackWood was an utter success thursday night. We had to turn people away there was such a great turnout.. The night started off a little slow, well with the day of running around getting the venue together was stressfull enough. Our A/V guy had his equipment set up but unfortuantely he only had an 8' x 8' screen. Shotgun Pete (one of the characters) and I made it back to my place to pick up a 50" flatscreen to put by the bar in the back of the room. I jumped online and found a 10 1/2' x 14' screen to replace that one.
Sitting around an hour before doors I got nervous because there was only a few people sitting around waiting on line for the movie. At 7;15 Holy shit !!!! A swarm of people showed up from nowhere and filed into the room. Pretty much everyone bought some merchandise, the official Crackwood pint glasses were the biggest sellers. Of course we were selling beer too. I stepped up to the podium and we had a few giveaway raffles prior to the screening. The energy level in the room was very positive. The lights went down and the movie started. Straight out of the hole it was laughter after laughter. The credits rolled after the opening intro the crowd went wild with applause. Throughout the film not one person left which is always a great sign for a preview screening. After the movie a stand ovation. Wow, that blew my mind. I was approached by one of the main hotel guys (where we showed the film "hotel solarmar") where he stated to me that Peter Jackson (director of lord of the rings) was showing one of his new films in the hotel as well. He said that Peter was complaining to the hotel about all the rucus down the hall and that nobody could hear his film due to the loud outbursting laughter coming from our room. I asked the hotel guy if we should keep the door closed for the second showing in which he replied, "The hell with that guy, you guys are cool."
Dam talk about having the juice for the night. Good times and Good friends. signing autographs, taking pictures with girls from the audience you just can't beat that.
For those of you that showed up and watched the film, I thank you very much and hope you truly enjoyed the film.
